5 Best Parks to Visit in the Scarborough Bluffs Area of Toronto

Known as a city within a park, The Scarborough Bluffs are a significant geological feature, resulting from the accumulation of sedimentary deposits over 12,000 years ago. Located in the Scarborough district of Toronto, the bluffs tower over the Lake Ontario shore for about 15 km. Here are the best 5 parks to visit for the best views over Lake Ontario:

Bluffer’s Park

Beach Lovers can spend a whole day at Bluffer’s Park. This park features a beautiful sandy beach with picnic areas, as well as a boat launch. Enjoy a picnic while swimming in the lake, or take a walk along the beach to enjoy the warm summer days. Or if you’re a photographer, come in the fall on a sunny day, when the beach is nearly empty. The park also has a nice lookout point with a 180-degree view of Lake Ontario as well as a view of the high cliffs. On a warm summer day, visitors can spend all day at this park.

Scarboro Crescent Park

Located on top of the hill overlooking Bluffer’s Park, visitors come here for the views. Families will find a splash pad for their kids to play in. The park also has tennis courts. The park is not too big, so if you’re looking for a quiet area with a great view, this is the park to visit!

Rosetta McClain Gardens

The fully-accessible gardens have a nice rose garden and a rock fountain surrounded by a pergola. Flower lovers and butterfly watchers will certainly enjoy this park. This park is also a top spot for wedding or engagement photos. A view of Lake Ontario can be found from this park, but it’s partially obstructed. However, if you walk on the trail that runs parallel to the lake, nature lovers can walk through nature on a path that leads to a different trail, eventually ending up in front of the lake. Walk down that path on a weekday morning or afternoon and enjoy a quiet moment in front of Lake Ontario.

Cathedral Bluffs Park

This is one of the highest points along the bluffs, rising more than 90 meters above Lake Ontario. This is the result of the coincidence of glacial Lake Iroquois shorelines and Lake Ontario. The park offers spectacular views of the bluffs and the lake.

Guild Park and Gardens

History lovers like me will enjoy this park! These beautiful gardens are a sculptural sanctuary with a tribute to the life and work of famous artists, powerful political figures and contributions to the art community. Located across from historic The Guild Inn, the park was originally the site of an artist colony, and contains a collection of relics saved from the demolition of buildings primarily in downtown Toronto.
